It’s been nearly two weeks since Dad passed, and the final few arrangements of flowers have come through. You can see below the first photo is of a little bunch that my mother’s accountant sent a few days ago. The photo below that is of a small arrangement Mum received today from my brother’s friend and his wife.
There were literally flowers everywhere, and I loved the way they looked and smelled. It made me want to be a florist so badly, because you’d go to work and it would be like that every day.
I have been so busy this week! I've been managing the delivery of so many flowers and helping Mum make funeral arrangements for Dad. I have also spent a lot of time finishing off my letters to all the heads of government around the world requesting a copy of their oath of office.
Finishing off the letters has been a really good distraction from thinking about Dad. Because when I do think about that, it makes me profoundly sad.
I think in a previous post I covered how I stamped and labelled each envelope. I then did a mail merge and edited each letter to make sure everything looked okay. When I printed the letters off at Officeworks, I noticed some tiny little errors, mainly to do with spacing, such as a double space between a comma and a word. I don't know what came over me, but I corrected all the tiny little oversights and went back to Officeworks and printed them again. I just thought if I'm going to do this, I am going to do it properly.
I just wanted everything to be perfect. Yesterday I then took all 202 letters, fully stamped and ready to go, to the post office. They have now started their journey across the vast global postal network. You can see the letters below being handed over to Jimmy.
